What is SIP and what is a SIP-Client?

SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) is a protocol, which provides Speech-, Video and Data-conferences over Network based systems. For our Internet calls (Voice over IP) we are betting on this protocol and providing SIP-Servers. In order to use our Calling service you will need an SIP-Client. The SIP-Client provides you the needed utility to establish connections and to accept incoming calls from our SIP-Server.

A SIP Client could be a single device /IP-Telephone), a telephone adaptor (ATA) for the continuance of your classical telephones or a PC software solution.

Possible SIP-Clients:

  1. Single devices (IP-Telefone)
  2. Telephone adaptor (ATA)
  3. DSL-Router with integrated Telephone adaptor (ATA)
  4. Softwaresolution
